Artistic Director: Lloyd Nicholson
In dual leadership roles with RCMT, Lloyd has directed The Music Man and Peter Pan, following 12 years serving in various musical capacities on Carousel, Gypsy, Brigadoon, Fiddler on the Roof and many other successes. As a musical director, he has worked from coast to coast and on productions at the Vancouver Playhouse which have included A Chorus Line, Hello, Dolly! and A Little Night Music (Jessie nominations for all three).
He won a Jessie for conducting Peter Pan (Queen Elizabeth Theatre) starring Cathy Rigby and Long John Baldry and received the 2004 Ovation Award for Outstanding Contribution to Community.
For Studio 58 Langara, where he is on faculty, productions have included She Loves Me, Cabaret, Hair, Pal Joey and this season's acclaimed Guys and Dolls. Trained in theatre at the University of Alberta, Lloyd has also stayed active as a stage director, with Coward and Piaf musicals that toured Canada and the U.S. for 5 seasons and South Pacific, Annie, Kiss Me Kate and Anne of Green Gables for TUTS. He also created 15 editions of The Diamond Tooth Gertie Show for Dawson City's casino. Next, he returns to the Arts Club Theatre with Suds, a 60's rock-and-roll musical. He salutes those who work hard all year to make Royal City Musical Theatre a showcase for our community's finest musical theatre talent.
